Not what I asked for and way overpriced I booked an appointment online for partial highlights. I liked that I could book online on Vagaro. As I'm the ...mother of a baby, I needed something low maintenance and I needed the highlights to be done as quickly as possible. When I arrived, I reiterated my request for partial highlights and carefully explained that I didn't want a very light blond colour because I need to avoid getting regular touch-ups when my darker blond roots grow out. Marylus, the owner, accepted my request. But three and a half hours later when she had finished her work, she charged me $280. I was flabbergasted by this amount for just partial highlights without a haircut. It took more time than anticipated and while the results looked pretty, it was much blonder than what I had wanted. When I asked the owner why the price was that high she said that she had basically done full highlights because I "needed them" as my hair was "too dark when I got there". I replied that I had asked (in the online booking and in-person when she started on my hair) for partial highlights and explicitly not for full highlights, and that at my previous salon it was maximum $200 with a trim included. She then reduced the price to $260 and when I said that it's still too much, she said that $250 is the lowest she would accept for the work she'd done on my hair (although that work was not what I had asked for). I left the salon very disheartened and feeling like I'd been duped. I lost not only precious time but also a significant amount of money on Saturday. It's disappointing, because she executed the highlights well and I could have become a regular client. But the outrageous price and the lack of professionalism and integrity I experienced will stop me from ever returning. Show more
